Painting sold
« on: June 20, 2012, 08:16:09 AM »

Ultia Hora today

The oil "Peinture (Etoile Bleue)» Spanish painter Joan Miró was sold today at the London auction house Sotheby's for 23.56 million pounds (29.2 million euros/37 million), a record price for a work of Catalan.

The "Blue Star" (1927) was part of a large auction of impressionist and abstract art which also sold works by Picasso, Kandinsky, Bonnard, Delvaux, van Dongen, Dix and Chagall.

The painting, which was described by Miró himself (1893-1983) as a turning point "key" to his name, incorporates symbols and surreal elements that the artist repeated in his later works.

After all is said and done, a lot more will be said than done!

Bella,
Did you pay in Euros or Pounds?
I'm sure it will look nice in the living room.
