They're taking the beach away!
« on: October 14, 2013, 11:04:58 AM »
Well, not maybe the "beach" but much of the beach furniture. First light this morning, awoke to the sound of a tractor and crew lifting the parasols and posts as well as lifting the walkways from the road to the shoreline. About 50% gone but far fewer people on the beach to need them...........looks like things are slowing down.

Yes, noticed that last week...... all the parasols in front of Little Italy had been taken away.
Seems pretty premature to me..... there were loads of people on the beach still..... but there you go!

Yes that does seem a little pre end of season!  :( Bit of a shame really.

Yup,

Got caught behind a couple of those farm tractors and trailers on the main road , they seemed to be moving em to Cala San Vicenze , perhaps they store them there or have CSV cracked the winter tourism conundrum??

More furniture being lifted this morning by the Tamarells cafe. At this rate the beach will be stripped by the end of the week.

Yes, definitely not very customer focussed is it?  It's almost like saying to people who are having their hols now - pack up and go home!

Why can't they leave, say, every other parasol and sun bed set so that tourists have something to sit or lie on at this time of year and then take the rest at the end of October?

They came down this morning, fiddled about with the tractor but didn't take anything away. They have left a couple of rows of parasols at this end but only a few people actually on the beach at the moment.

Today's report, no more furniture taken but the tractor and crew were out bringing ashore some of the marker buoys. Some pruning of palms going on too but as I write, all quiet...........must be coffee break time.

It must be really interesting to actually see the port closing down as it happens. Shame they didn't wait until the sun decided the season had finished though!  ::)

Today's report.............either not sunny enough for anyone to work or they've all been laid off early! Nothing happening at all, even the street sweeper hasn't been by.

What a great idea BL! The Spanish love an excuse for a fiesta as we know. If they have an "end of season" date - be it everso moveable as usual - it could also be like an "everyone grab a sunbed and put on the lorry" thing too! Of course fireworks may not be a good idea as its too light and sunny (!) but live music and dancing on the beach to thank the sun gods for a good season would be great, along with a "donation pot" to ensure next season would be sunny too!  Another tourist date to bring them in for a final fling!

Of course, with all that bare foot dancing on the beach, one must have a good pedicure beforehand!  ;)
