James Blunt to marry “local schoolgirl”

Sofia Wellesley and James Blunt are due to get married in Majorca this Summer.

By Humphrey Carter

The Bulletin can exclusively reveal today that there is more than meets the eye to the marriage of James Blunt to Sofia Wellesley in Majorca.

Palma.—The musician who lives in Ibiza, London and Verbier and who has sold over 20 million albums world wide after having enjoyed a distinguished military career in the Household Cavalry, popped the question to the granddaughter of the Duke of Wellington, Sofia Wellesley over Christmas and it is understood that the wedding is due to be held at the rural estate the family has owned for over 20 years near Campanet.
What is more, Sofia and her brother Gerald went to school here on the island.

Bendinat castle turned into a wedding venue

Calvia.— Bendinat Castle will soon be ready to  host weddings and company events, after plans to turn the venue into Majorca’s second casino were abandoned.
Catering company La Alcena de Mallorca, announced the news yesterday via their Facebook page confirming they have signed an exclusive deal with the owner of the castle, Enrique Banuelos and his foundation, who bought the venue  ten years ago.
La Alcena sources explained that the priority will be given to company events over weeding celebrations, adding that the foundation will always have a final say on any event to be commemorated at the castle.
After all is said and done, a lot more will be said than done!

Didn't realise that Blunt was Harrys boss at one time! In the Mallorca Bulletin...

James Blunt and Sofia Wellesley to celebrate their wedding in Majorca this week

The couple is understood to have tied the knot at a registry office in London. ¡

Details about the wedding celebrations have been the best kept secrets on the island this year but anticipation is mounting, especially over the guest list.

Palma.—Blunt, a close friend of Prince Harry, enjoyed a distinguished military career in the Household Cavalry, before going on to sell an astonishing 20 million albums worldwide, but  this week, Blunt has an even greater reason to celebrate.
The former Lifeguards officer has married his  girlfriend Sofia Wellesley, the granddaughter of the Duke of Wellington, at a registry office in London and are going to be celebrating the marriage here in Majorca and then Ibiza.
The Duke of Wellington’s family has owned properties near Campanet for years, in fact Sofia and her brother attended the Academy School in Marratxi for a couple of years.
Initially, the couple were expected to actually get married on the island, but it appears that a blessing is going to be held during a two day event near Campanet.
Prince Harry, who served under former Captain Blunt, is said to be on the guest list but is apparently avoiding the weekend parties in Ibiza in order to avoid any unwanted publicity.
That said, Blunt was one of the acts who performed during the closing ceremony of Prince Harry’s Invictus Games on Sunday night and the two reportedly enjoyed a few beers after to celebrate the prince’s 30th birthday.
