Corb Mari Restaurant
« on: April 14, 2014, 10:16:22 AM »
This used to be Dad's favourite restaurant....going back to when it was called the Bec Fi.  For some reason we had remembered it as a place to go for a 'treat' meal (ie expensive!!) and have hardly been there for many years. However, after perusing the menu last week, we decided to give it a try again - and so glad that we did!

There is a wonderful choice on the menu, including lots of fish dishes - and many main courses are under 10 euros too.

We both had apéritifs and the waiter brought a large bowl of olives, fresh bread and a beautiful Mallorcan olive oil to dip it in.

The 'amuse-bouche' was a tasty charcoal-grilled sausage, delivered to the table by our waiter on a huge skewer. :-)
My friend chose charcoal grilled chicken and giant prawn kebab and I had a 'mini' mixed grill  (pork fillet, beef fillet and chicken) and this came with a huge dish of freshly cooked chips and sauté of courgette and carrot.  A small casserole of mixed rice was also included.

The house white wine was really good - a Raimat wine and the house Rioja was excellent as well.  Two of the drinks were kindly offered 'on the house' and the whole bill came to around 50 euros.

The service was brilliant and the location is hard to beat.  Well worth a visit!

The Corb Mari is just next to the Voramar  supermarket - ie right at the end of the Anglada Camarasa esplanade and just before the start of the Pine Walk.

have not been there for years..I remember we went there with friends and when the waiter offered us the grilled very misshapen sausage my daughter (who was about 10 at the time) very politely said "no than you I don't want a mouse"..we still giggle at that.
We always considered it expensive and a treat too so  have to give it another go  :)

Another cracking meal at the Corb Mari on Sunday night!  Great food and brilliant service. A nice spicy char-grilled sausage starter and bread, butter & olives.
Then 2 mixed grills - which came served with proper freshly fried potato chips, fresh veg and a mixed rice dish.  Gorgeous bottle of chilled Raimat wine bottle of water...all for 50 euros.

The Corb Mari have decided on some new menu options apparently.  I was impressed when they said on their Facebook profile that they were sourcing a new supplier for their meat in the Basque area of Spain.
The restaurant and snack bar are already open for the season.  They are also in the process of doing a photo shoot for their new meals so that they will have some appetising photos to go on their website.

Food photography is such a specialised area.....hope that this guy knows what he is doing!   ;D  He looks a little far away!  ;D

We had another fab meal in the Corb Mari restaurant in April 2015.  As you go inside the restaurant you can see all the meat lined up in the refrigerated unit so you can see it is of excellent quality.
Just found the receipt so here goes:-

4 aperitifs to start with
Main courses were chicken & mushroom brochette, 2 mixed grill skewers and one fillet brochette - all delicious and tender and cooked on the charcoal grill.  All main courses were served with hand cut real chips, mixed veg and also a pot of savoury rice.  We chose a bottle of Mortitx Rose 'Flaires' to go with our meal and also a bottle of Obac Binigrau red wine as per the suggestion of the waitress.  The staff there really do know their wines!  Plus a bottle of mineral water of course.
Desserts were 2 pieces of homemade cheesecake -( believe me this cheesecake is 'homemade' and worth travelling for!) and a chocolate dessert.

The whole bill - 150 euros for the four of us - excellent service throughout - knowledgeable staff - great location - fine table linen - brilliant, freshly cooked food.  What is there not to like!
