Metal detector needed for lost ring
« on: May 29, 2014, 08:32:30 AM »
Hi all,

Hope everyone is well. I'm on hols here and very sadly lost my engagement ring on the beach. I am trying to find someone with a metal detector (I know it's supposed to be people with permits only, so finding one of those people would be amazing). We have to fly home on sat pm and this is our only hope of finding it.

I am so so so distraught, and to top it all off we are here because my mum has just been put on the heart transplant list and we wanted to give her a nice holiday first.

Any help at all would be hugely appreciated.

Thank you

Laura

So sorry to hear about this Laura, I have read it on facebook I think, as well as the PP forum so your predicament is certainly out there for all to see. Have you contacted the English Radio station on facebook too to get them to publish and also put it on the radio? We all wish you the very best of luck and are so sorry this is happening to you.

That's a good bit of advice Bella about contacting the local English radio station.

Also, it might help to know which area of the beach you were on Laura. Could you let us know ?

A lot of people are on board with this now, including Bonyslad who is asking around the port for any help. Fingers crossed that the word spreads quickly.  :-\

Thanks guys, all of your ideas are so good and your support is so helpful. Thank you. We are meeting a translator at the civil guard at 4pm, and we will be able to report the loss. Then we will ask our translator if she can call the numbers suggested by tiggy. Thank you so much!!!!! Xx

Hi everyone. Have a report from the police now which is a good start. Now on the beach knowing the ring is somewhere near but don't know exactly where without a detector. Must be a list of permit holders somewhere! We called the numbers suggested by twiggy but no answer, so no luck there. Our translator has lived here for years but didn't know of anyone - she does know exactly where we think the ring is though, now!! Also been interviewed by the majorca bulletin, so looks like we have made the news....

Thanks!

Laura

Seen this suggested elsewhere but do ask in the Multi Hire Shop next to the British Food Shop , run by Ian and Sam an English couple they , if anyone does , might have a contact.
Have asked around my diving mates today, Alas, no luck so far !!!
Good Luck

Hello all. I have some excellent news. We got the metal detector from Sam and Ian. Nick went straight to the beach and after 20 mins of searching, he got some beeps!!!! He began digging and quite quickly came across something metal....my ring!!!! We absolutely cannot believe this has happened, and guys, it is absolutely down to you. I would like to meet every one of you and buy you all drinks, and more. Dinner!!! I really can't tell you how happy I am, how happy my mum is and how you have all restored the memories of this holiday. It really will be something we can talk about in years to come and probably never quite believe it. I am thanking you all from the bottom of my heart. I would love to do anything to express my gratitude, any ideas at all?! I want to show you how wonderful you all are.

Much love,

Laura :D

Oh Laura, I'm in tears here! I am so, so pleased for you, and so pleased that everyone was able to pull together and help you have such an amazing result! So glad that your holiday will now have such exciting bad happy memories for you all. I'm sure that should you return again - and again - to PP that you will meet up with some of us to show us your ring! Keep us informed of future developments!  :-*  :-*
