There's a road race on Saturday 11th July 2015 starting at 9pm in Puerto Pollensa.

Quote
RACE AROUND THE MARINA

Within the festivities of la Mare de Déu del Carme 2015 next Saturday July 11 at 21:00 hours will take place  the 3rd race.
The area affected by this race will be from the first roundabout of the ring road, the one nearest Alcuda, until the roundabout of "Enginyer Roca", and as a consequence the traffic to these areas will be closed approximately thirty minutes before the race.
To get to the area of Pinaret should enter by the roundabout (goldfinch).

Right here is some info for those of you who like a walk, jog or run in the Port / Pollensa area.

If you are able to dodge the odd bit of uneven surface both the Port and Pollensa are generally flat and ideal for walking or running although in the heat of the summer stick to early morning or late evening if jogging or running.

If running the guys at Runny Knows are your best point of contact if you want to run/jog with a guide or group. It may cost you a few € but well worth it so you can get help with specific routes plus have someone there if anything ‘happens’. The stone path by Illa D’Or (Pine Walk) catches a few people out with the uneven surface and nothing worse than walking around all holiday with a bandaged knee.

So for a starter here is a link to the Runny Knows website >

http://www.runnyknows.com/

and for you Facebook users > https://www.facebook.com/runnyknows

If you want to select a route in the area yourself, whether walking or running (useful either at home or when away) take a look at the Walk/Jog/Run website > http://www.walkjogrun.net/

If you use the cursor on their page you can plot a route that suites and the page will then indicate the distance travelled and calories used.

For serious runners the local event is the Pollensa half marathon (20km) which will be next held on either Sunday 3rd April or 10th April 2016 – a confirmation date should be available soon.

As Mary kindly points out there is a road race (7km) this coming Saturday – note the 9.00pm start ~ as I said earlier stick to early or late.

There are always events being held and of course Palma tends to feature frequently if talking marathon. The Elite Chip website carries details of most of the authorised runs > http://www.elitechip.net/index.php

Finally the Pollensa Half and 7.5km page is here > http://www.mitjamaratopollensa.net/en/index.htm
Received a text today which read GNAB ~ I think that is bang out of order. It doesn't matter if the glass is half full or half empty - there is clearly more room for more wine. I feel sorry for people who don't drink. When they wake up in the morning, that's as good as they're going to feel all day.

Lots of signs being tied to lampposts which indicate no parking all day, and cars could be towed away!  :o

No comment at the moment as just seeing how it goes and no promises re next April (other than we will be around) ...... working up to the 20km but HARD work. Managed a 8km run every day when last out ..... generally Llenaire to Illa D'or and back and since then have done the same distance every day back in UK. If I say the first time I did 8km my time was 1h 37m (and I was completely knackered) and I've got this down to just under 50 mins things are obviously improving. Out soon and going to stick to this 8km run and decide around Christmas if I can do it. Lost an ounce or two as well  ;D
