« on: April 13, 2016, 22:33:22 PM »
EasyJet will open its first seasonal basis in Palma de Mallorca in the spring of 2017 that will house three A319s and A320s for eight months a year, the airline reported.

The company has chosen the island because since 1997 it has transported 17 million passengers and currently carries around 1.7 million passengers a year on average, through its 22 European routes. For the 'low cost' British operator, Palma is one of the most popular summer destinations in the UK and Northern Europe. Demand in this destination increases from early spring to late summer. Looking ahead the company is considering connecting the island with most European airports. 120 JOBS With this operation, the airline will contribute to the local economy by creating more than 120 jobs between pilots and cabin crew. It will also give pilots and cabin crew working for easyJet elsewhere in Europe the option to transfer their job to the island. 'The base provides a solution that is adjusted to seasonal market needs,' said the CEO of the low-cost airline, Carolyn McCall.
